Why Montréal for Circus?
Montréal has a rich history of circus and performing arts. Unlike traditional traveling circuses, Le Château de Cirque offers something more personal, authentic, and accessible — a real training and creation space where passionate artists teach inside a 1931 Art Deco cinema.
If you're searching for "things to do in Montreal" or a "unique Montreal experience," circus isn't a tourist cliché. It's a real discipline, a way of life, and a rare chance to test your limits in a magical space.
Le Château de Cirque · Your First Experience
Located in Petite-Italie, just 30 minutes from the Port of Montréal, Le Château de Cirque is a renovated 1931 cinema with 7+ meter ceilings and 1500 m² of space. Inside: a real trapeze rig, professional aerial equipment, walls rigged for all levels.
Le Grand Saut is our flagship offer for visitors: a 75-minute flying trapeze session, no experience required. You arrive in street clothes, you leave a trapezist. Seriously.
Le Grand Saut · 1 hour · $75 CAD — Flying trapeze for beginners. Full safety. Harness provided. No weight/age limits. Walk-ins welcome subject to availability.
The instructors — including Sébastien Duchesne, head of the trapeze team — know their craft. No sensationalism, no "photo op." Just real circus.
Petite-Italie & Old Montréal · More Than Circus
The Château doesn't exist in isolation. It's woven into the living fabric of Petite-Italie, one of Québec's oldest communities — authentic, dense, full of life.
Three blocks from the Château: The Jean-Talon Market, a public market since 1933 with fruits, flowers, cheeses, and constant energy. Perfect for a break between circus and dinner. 10 minutes on foot: Old Montréal with cobblestone streets, French colonial architecture, the Vieux-Port, the cathedral.
Combine your Château visit with a day in the neighborhood: café, gelato, real pizza, patio life. It's like being in Italy, except it's Québec and you have flying trapeze before or after.
When to Visit?
Summer (May–September): Peak season for tourists. Warm weather, patios open, Jean-Talon Market in full swing. Cruise ships dock May through October.
Winter (December–March): Montréal transforms into a miniature Christmas landscape. Worst for cruise passengers (few port calls), best for visitors wanting real Montréal — fewer massive tourist crowds, more authenticity.
Summer Camp (July 27–31): We also offer an intensive camp for kids and teens. If you're coming with family, it's a serious option — 5 immersive days, $400, 8 spots only.
